DISC Personal Profiling helps us to understand ourselves and others and gives us the key to unlocking the language for great communication, influence and leadership
It is a key process that really does help people become more sophisticated communicators and leaders. We see this all the time with the leaders that we coach and train. There is ALWAYS a lightbulb 💡 moment during the process when people start to understand why they might struggle with some of the following:
- confronting situations in a non confrontational way 😱
- networking and building rapport and relationships 🤝
- reading a room and being memorable for the right reasons in groups 💁🏼♂️
- performance managing others and holding people to account 📊
- understanding why colleagues or team members approach a situation or conversation in a way that you would not 🤔
- understanding why some prefer to approach something in writing and others verbally 📧🗣
- getting it right when acknowledging a job well done so that it motivates someone in the right way ✅
…..and so much more!
When using DISC, we know that personality styles can be grouped together into four key areas and when we look at teams and individuals when profiling them, people in the same group have similar preferences and approaches. Understanding and acknowledging these is key to having the right approach towards them in order to connect and influence. We are not just one style though, oh no! We are a mixture of all four and we see that when we profile those who we work with.
Going on a stage further, when combining their profile with what we call your “life experience iceberg” (there’s always an iceberg in a leadership discussion!) we can begin to see the unique individual and of course start to see how we best work with and build a relationship with them
When we profile who we work with, they do not only get their report, we make it our business to ensure they understand the DISC instrument as well and so provide them with a common language to discuss communication styles. It also gives them the knowledge of how to figure out where someone “may be” on the DISC profile, without them even going through the process. This is fundamental to our success as communicators as we are meeting people all the time in our lives and the more we know about human behaviour, the better employees, leaders and people in general we are.
DISC profiling is fundamental to what we do at Dunelm Leaders and the teams we work with. Working with the senior leadership teams that we do, it provides us with the information we need to not only coach, develop and train them effectively but it helps them create sophisticated and effective commutation and leadership strategies as they develop their own teams and organisations
We offer a no obligation DISC taster session for organisations who are focussed on getting their leadership team to be more cohesive, sophisticated communicators and influential leaders.
